For Voters
This section is for you if someone sent you a voting link — by email, text, QR code, or a shared URL — and you want to cast your ballot. If you are the person running the election, see Running an Election.
You got a voting link — here’s what to do
- Open the link. Depending on how the election was set up, you may be asked to enter a voter ID, or to sign in first.
- Read the instructions at the top of the ballot. They tell you how the ballot is filled out — for example, in a STAR Voting election you give every candidate a score from 0 to 5, and giving two candidates the same score is allowed.
- Fill out the ballot and press Submit. You can leave candidates blank; a blank counts as no support.
- Keep your receipt. Before submitting, you can enter your email to get a ballot receipt. If the election allows ballot updates, the link in that receipt is how you change your vote later.
- Come back for results. The election page shows results when they’re available — some elections show a running preliminary tally, others publish results only after voting closes.
